Andrew (Andy) Thomas Gustafson, 33, of North Liberty, Iowa and formerly of Denison, Iowa died on December 11, 2008 In Iowa City after a lifelong battle with a rare congenital vascular syndrome. Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Sunday, December 14th at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa and a funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 15th at St. Rose of Lima Church in Denison, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Andy will be missed deeply by his mother, Judy (Shimon) Gustafson of Cedar Rapids, his father, Tom Gustafson (Kathi) of Denison, Iowa, his sisters, Jenny Gustafson, of Cedar Rapids and Holly Risetter and husband Ryan of Waterloo, Iowa and their children, Brady and Addison. His maternal Grandmother, Mary Shimon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His maternal Great-Aunt, Eve Bennett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His aunts Dani Shimon and Debbie Galloway from Minneapolis, MN. His uncles Chris Shimon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Pat (Maggie) Shimon of Denver Colorado, Dennis (Debi) Gustafson of Kingman, AZ, step-sisters Taylor and Courtney Sorensen of Denison, Iowa.and many cousins, great aunts and uncles, other relatives and close friends. Andy was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather Bob Shimon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His paternal Grandparents, Mildred and Ernie Gustafson of Alta, Iowa and many other loving relatives and friends as well as his beloved Snickers. Andy was born on July 1st, 1975 in Iowa City, Iowa to Judy and Tom Gustafson. He grew up in Denison Iowa where he attended the Denison Community schools through high school. He attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri for 3 years. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at Northwest Missouri State. He worked in Kansas City for several years until his illness forced him to stop and move closer to home. He was a funny and passionate person and a life-long Cubs fan! He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
