Charlotte Ann Holzer
August 14, 1936 — January 14, 2018
Charlotte Ann Holzer was born August 14, 1936 in Ashton, Iowa to Alvin and Elsie (Verdoorn) Reinke. She was baptized in Sibley, Iowa and confirmed in Harlan, Iowa. Charlotte went to country school in the Goewey #5 Township from 1st - 6th grades, and attended Ashton Public School from 7th - 12th grades. Charlotte worked at JC Penney’s right after high school, and then at Farm Bureau in Sibley. Not long afterwards, Charlotte married William Holzer on March 14, 1955 in Sibley, where the two lived for a short time. The couple moved to other small towns before moving to Harlan in 1964, where they resided for nearly 44 years before moving to Westphalia in 2007.To this union, five children were born: Steve, Tami, Theresa, Tom, and Connie.
Charlotte resigned from Home Federal Savings & Loan in the mid 90’s, then worked as a real estate agent before the couple retired in 1997, after which, they spent many winters in Texas. Some of her favorite hobbies were camping, golfing, playing the piano and organ and listening to music and singing. She took great joy in being outdoors. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and watching the birds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Charlotte passed away on January 14, 2018 in Manilla, Iowa. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ron Reinke; and her beloved dog, Cudos.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill of Westphalia, IA; children Steve (Jodi) Holzer of Council Bluffs, IA; Tami Moritz of Westphalia, IA ; Theresa Geopfert of Harlan, IA; Tom (Trish Hayes) Holzer of Westphalia, IA; Connie (Jim Claussen) Lehan of Harlan, IA; sisters Carol Sievert of Ashton, IA; Sharon Dornon of Sioux City, IA; Deb Jorgensen of Sioux City, IA; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
