David Ray Pierce was born on December 16, 1942 to King David Pierce and Evalee Johnson-Pierce-Moore in Oakland, California. Growing up, David attended grade school in Oakland, California and high school in Arbuckle, California. David attended Mt. Ranch Church in California where he was baptized in 1999. He went on to attend Assembly of God Church in Harlan, Iowa as well as Fresh Encounter Church in Harlan, Iowa.
David found the love of his life when he met Loraine A. Pierce. They were united in marriage on April 23, 1965 in Castro Valley, California. To this union two daughters were born: Sheri and Vicki.
David was a truck driver for most of his career. He started out at the Naval Supply Center in Oakland, California, Senna Trucking Company and Seabring Trucking Company in San Leandro, California, and Suburban Propane Company. He started working at Agriland Farm Supply in Harlan in 2000 until retirement in 2009. He then continued to work there seasonally until 2020.
David loved going on adventures. He traveled to 47 of the 50 states in America. David belonged to Good Sam’s Camping Club out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He loved water skiing and all sports. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, King David Pierce and Evalee Johnson-Pierce-Moore; stepfather, Allen Moore; daughter, Sheri Pierce-Rose; sister Sue Kleckner; and nephew, Josh Brewer.
He is survived by his wife Loraine Pierce of Harlan, IA; daughter, Vicki Pierce of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Jayson (Catherine) Pierce-Rose of Council Bluffs, IA; Jaynelle Pierce-Rose of Austin, TX; great grandchildren, Daniel, Caleigh, and Jayce; siblings Brenda (Jim) Sweeney of Harlan, IA; Jackie (Chon) Guzman of Harlan, IA; Toni (Harold) Dye of Sheridan, MO; brother-in-law Norm Kleckner of Castro Valley, CA; nephews, David (Claudia) Kleckner of Oakhurst, CA, Steven (Cari) Kleckner of Ft. Bragg, CA, Jim Sweeney of Castro Valley, CA, and Justin Dye of Sharidan, MO; nieces, Kimberly Sweeney of Harlan, IA, Angela (Travis) Guzman-Harbour of Irwin, IA, Rebecca Guzman of IL, and Sadie Dye of Sheridan, MO; many loved great nieces and nephews.
