Grace Ann Knudsen
June 23, 1930 — July 11, 2013
Grace Ann Knudsen was born on June 26, 1930, to Thomas Lee and Alta Grace (Plumb) Evans in Sibley, Iowa. She was baptized at the Methodist Church. Grace Ann graduated eighth grade from Lincoln Township #8 school and Harlan High School with the Class of 1948.
On October 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Jack Russel Knudsen at the United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa. To this marriage two children were born: Sheri and Stan. Grace Ann enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to two card clubs; was a member of two garden clubs; and participated in her church as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School activities. She also painted china and did needle work.
Grace Ann worked at Hansen Hardware as a sales clerk, worked for Yellow Cab Company out of Des Moines, Iowa, and did office work at Nelson Equipment. She was also a typist at R.C. Booth, did the accounts receivable for Vic Doonan’s Service Station, and drove the van for Concerned, Inc. for seventeen years.
Grace Ann died on July 11, 2013, at Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center having attained the age of eighty-three years and eighteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Gerald, Edward, Arlene, Alice, and Dexter.
She is survived by her daughter Sheri Kay and her husband Timothy Semple of Leonardtown, Maryland; son Stan L. Knudsen and his wife Judy of Harlan, Iowa; granddaughters: Kim and her husband Kenny Lawson of California, Maryland, Dr. Dawn and her husband Dr. Jeremey Gerber of Avondale, Arizona, and Greta Knudsen of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren: Courteney Ann Lawson and Sophia Renee Lawson both of California, Maryland, and Soren James Gerber of Avondale, Arizona; other family members and friends.
