Julie Kay Bruck, daughter of Randall and Vivian (Sorensen) Lytle, was born September 10, 1955 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Tennant, Iowa and later joined the Catholic Church. She attended Harlan High School , where she graduated with the class of 1974. She then attended college at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. She received her Registered Nurse degree in 1977.
On July 23, 1977, Julie was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jim Bruck, at the First United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa. Four children were born to this union: Michelle, Tara, Ryan and Ashley. Julie started her path in nursing at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa and at various clinics around the area before settling into the Myrtue Memorial Hospital and clinics in Harlan for the remainder of her career.
Julie kept busy attending her children’s activities and sports. She loved to travel, especially abroad. She traveled to Turkey 14 times, where she would visit her “Turkish daughter” Sinem Tuncer. She especially treasured spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren. She tried to brainwash her grandchildren into loving the New York Yankees and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved reality TV, especially with her friends during watching parties for the The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. She also loved going out and having fun with her girlfriends.
After battling cancer, Julie died on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of sixty-three years, eight months, and eighteen days. She is preceded in death by her father Randall Lytle.
She is survived by her husband Jim Bruck of Harlan, Iowa; children Michelle and her husband Jason Kruse of Norwalk, Iowa; Tara and her husband Steve Bubb of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Ryan Bruck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Ashley and her husband Jeff Petersen of Harlan, Iowa; Sinem Tuncer of Istanbul, Turkey; 12 grandchildren; mother Vivian Lytle of Harlan, Iowa; siblings Gaige Lytle and his wife Sherry; Mark Lytle and his wife Phyllis; Joni and her husband Chris Larsen all of Harlan, Iowa; her lifelong best friend Diane Weihs; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
