Linda Laverne Stehr, Age 68 passed away in Remsen, Iowa on October 24th, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa on September 19, 1955, to Leonard Lavern Akers and Lore Ann Heller. She went to school in Manilla, Iowa and later received her GED.
She married David Crouch in Manilla, Iowa on October 13th, 1973, and they had two daughters, Tammy and Nikki. She later married David Stehr in Denison, Iowa on August 31st, 1979, and had one son, Nathan. She made her home in Denison, Iowa for many years.
Linda worked as a homemaker and a med aide for several years to help support her family and would work during the holiday season to make sure her children and grandchildren always got everything they wanted for Christmas.
Linda had several hobbies and loved to craft and would often find old junk that she would give a new purpose to. Her house was filled with things she had made and old antiques she would find at auctions or garage sales. She had several collections and loved trying to find an item she had in a collector's book. Her friends and family would often find her working on something in her crafting room she would lovingly call her "dinking" room.
Linda also loved everything about Halloween and would dress up as a witch every year and would often talk her friends and family into joining her. Her favorite movie was Wizard of Oz and she loved listening to music by Meatloaf and all "oldies" music. Linda and her sister Jody would often sing to "oldies" music when traveling in the car, which her children and nephews can attest to.
Her favorite role though was being a grandma and was known to everyone as Nana or Nan. Linda would do anything for her grandchildren and would often spoil them with extra love and attention whenever she was around. She always had cookies in her cookie jar and a big hug for everyone that came to her home.
Linda fought a hard battle with Alzheimer's but even when she had problems with her memory, she always had a hug, a kiss, and a smile for everyone that came to visit her.
When you think of Linda, remember to always keep a penny in your shoe for luck, don't be afraid of the black cat, and look for the beauty within every situation because you might just find that something that will make it new again. She loved each and every one of you for who you are and we know she will be watching over all of us from Heaven.
