Lyle Laverne Nordby, son of Albert and Eva (Cole) Nordby, was born on June 25, 1951, at the Manning Hospital in Manning, Iowa. He attended Irwin High School and graduated in 1969. After graduating, he attended two years at Lincoln Technical Institute, a Ryder School to become a mechanic.
On December 20, 1969, Lyle married his childhood sweetheart, Linda Elwell, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa. Together they raised three children: Kristine, Mandi, and Aron. Lyle was a farmer as well as worked at the Des Moines Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Dubuque Packing Plant, Manilla Fertilizer, and Smithfield Foods-Farmland for 30 years.
Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on projects around the house. He also loved spending time with his family at Okoboji, the Black Hills, and the Loess Hills Hideaway Cabins. Being around people and having good conversation was one thing that he was very well known for.
Lyle died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, surrounded by his children on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, attaining the age of 71 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Eva; wife Linda; and his sister-in-law, Mary Nordby.
He is survived by his children: Kristine (Scott) Lingle of Manilla, Iowa; Mandi (Ahmed) Al-Asfour of Carbondale, Illinois; Aron Nordby of Harlan, Iowa; grandchildren: Jessica Lingle, Cole (Kaitlyn) Facile-Lingle, Miranda Lingle, Ali Al-Asfour, Laila Al-Asfour, Mariam Al-Asfour, Rylie Beermann - Nordby, Nash Nordby, Colt Nordby; his siblings: Dwain Nordby of Irwin, Iowa; Betty Nordby of Gilbert, Arizona; nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
