Shirley Ann Hoffmann

Shirley Ann Hoffmann, daughter of Harry and Edna (Neighbors) Piittmann, was born on June 10, 1937 in Hancock, Iowa. She passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa having attained the age of eighty-one years, four months and twenty days.
Shirley married Robert Herbert Hoffmann on April 18, 1959. To this union four children were born: Debra, Diane, Dennis and David. She worked at the Journal Herald Newspaper, REM Leadway, Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Avoca Day Care and Preschool, Heritage Inn and Grandma’s Diner. She was a member of the United Church of Avoca.
In her own delightful and unique way, Shirley brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew her. She loved to spoil all who came into her life and will be greatly missed by all those that loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hoffmann and son in law Warren Flearl. Left to cherish her memory are her children Debra Flearl of Omaha, NE; Diane and her husband Lon Jacobsen of Avoca, Iowa; Dennis Hoffmann of Avoca, Iowa; and David Hoffmann and his wife Amy of Walnut, Iowa; her five grandchildren Deena Hoffmann of Chesapeake, Virginia; Hillary and her husband James Shughart of Hancock, Iowa; Travis Hoffmann of Walnut, Iowa; Steven Jacobsen of Avoca, Iowa; and Ellie Hoffmann of Walnut, Iowa; one great-grandson Hunter Shughart of Hancock, Iowa; brothers Gerald Piittmann and his wife Diane of Waukon, Iowa; and Dennis Piittmann and his wife Carolyn of Avoca, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
