Thomas Lee Hildebrand, son of Fred and Lavera (Leistikow) Hildebrand, was born February 25, 1954 in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. He graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1972.
On February 21, 1980, Tom was united in marriage to Tamra Bice in Merrill, Wisconsin. Two children were born to this union: Katrina (Kate) and Derek-Thomas (Derek). Although the marriage ended, both remained dedicated parents to their children. Tom taught both Kate and Derek important lessons about love, loyalty and perseverance
Tom was considered a second father by many and was quick to help anyone in need. Tom was very active in the community, often volunteering his time to various projects and coaching youth activities. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Tom was known to be fairly vocal regarding his opinion of a particular play.
Through his life, Tom had many close and loyal friends, including: Jerry Baumgardner (despite being a Vikings fan), Jim Schechinger, and Dan Crees. Phillip Mueller and his family were also a very important people in Tom's life.
Tom died on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of sixty-four years, four months, and six days. He is survived by his children Kate and her husband Josh Smith of Harlan, Iowa; Derek Hildebrand and his wife Tami of Woodbine, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; father Fred Hildrebrand of Wausau, Wisconsin; mother Lavera Hildebrand of Merrill, Wisconsin; siblings Joy and her husband Mike Borrows of Merrill, Wisconsin; Tim Hildebrand of Wausau, Wisconsin; Angel Rhyner of Merrill, Wisconsin; two step-brothers; two step-sisters; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
