Timothy “Tim” Lee Heilig was born on April 1, 1947, to the parents of Leonard and Madeline (Robinson) Heilig, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended various schools throughout his childhood and graduated from AvoHa High School with the class of 1965. He was baptized at United Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa.
Tim enjoyed his trucking business, hauling grain, farming, corn shelling, custom baling, and his bulldozing business with his brother Donald. In 2000, he retired due to health reasons.
During his free time, Tim loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and called a good friend every night at 6:30 to play it over the phone. Tim was very social! He enjoyed being with friends and helping his brother in his later years. When Tim was younger, he had fun snowmobiling with several friends. Tim also relished fishing, tractor parades, tractor rides, hunting, birdwatching and feeding the birds. He loved to dance and was very good at it. Tim had a great sense of humor, very witty, always smiling and joking around; all that will be missed by those who knew him.
Tim died on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at his home in Avoca, having attained the age of sixty-nine years, eight months, and thirty days. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Donald and Robert; and sister Carol. He is survived by his twin brother Ted Heilig and his wife Judy of Shelby, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
