Adeline Marie May, daughter of Benedict and Mary Rose (Kwapiszeski) Blum was born July 1, 1919 in Panama, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed and attended school at St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Panama. She attended college at Mt. Saint Scholastica in Atchinson, Kansas.
On December 27, 1945 Adeline was united in marriage to Nick May at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Parish, in Panama, Iowa. After marriage, Nick and Adeline farmed near Panama where they raised their seven children: Gerald, Virginia, Alice, Lois, Nick, Kenny and Ronnie.
Adeline spent her days being a mother, housewife and gardener. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, cooking and baking for her family. She also loved quilting and playing cards. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary Society, quilting group, and Legion Auxiliary.
After retirement, she had many opportunities to travel to see her children and other relatives. One of her most memorable trips was to the Holy Land.
Adeline died on August 14, 2016 at the Elm Crest Retirement Community, attaining the age of ninety-seven years, one month and thirteen days. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Nick May; brother Ralph Blum and brother-in-law Al Feldman.
She is survived by her children Gerald May of Panama, Iowa; Virginia and her husband Ron Muenchrath of Harlan, Iowa; Alice May of Selah, Washington; Lois May of Silverdale, Washington; Nick May and his wife Sheila of Westphalia, Iowa; Ken May of Saint Joseph, Missouri; Ron May and his wife Lynn of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Isabel Feldman of Harlan, Iowa; sister-in-law Eunice Blum and her husband Gil of Panama, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.Adeline Marie May, daughter of Benedict and Mary Rose (Kwapiszeski) Blum was born July 1, 1919 in Panama, Iowa.
