Alan Frederick Sieh, Jr., known to his family and peers as "AJ or Big Country" was born on September 26, 1999, to Alan and Bobbi (Pendgraft) Sieh, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. He attended school in Avoca and graduated from AHSTW High School with the class of 2018.
AJ participated in football, basketball, track and a year of soccer while attending AHSTW. He made it to state in track his junior year. His first love has always been football. Ever since he was 8 years old, he dreamt about attending and playing football for the Bearcats at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He accomplished that dream and was awarded a scholarship to play for the Bearcats.
He was gifted his name "Big Country" for his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, gaming with his friends, riding his UTV/ATV's with his nieces, Lizzie and Reagan, and spending any extra time with his friends. By the age of 20, Big Country lived up to his name having shot a Pronghorn Antelope in Wyoming; a Whitetail Deer in Missouri, along with other numerous deer in Iowa; a Greater Canadian Goose off of Grandpa Sieh's Pond; Bluewing Teal Ducks from Grandpa's Pond, and his first wild Turkey in Missouri at Uncle Lewis's Farm. His beagle boys, Ranger and Eddie, helped him shoot rabbits and were always a true hunting companion.
Big Country passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020, having attained the age of twenty years, ten months and eighteen days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Erwin and Martha Sieh. In addition to his parents; AJ is survived by sister Ashley (Brant) Melvin of Savannah, Missouri; nieces Lizzie and Reagan Melvin; maternal grandmother Dorothy Pendgraft of Hancock, Iowa; other family and numerous friends.
