Alan "Al" Disburg was born at Manilla, Iowa, May 18, 1940, the son of Gilbert and Helen Anita Sievers Disburg. He was raised at Manilla, graduating from high school there. Following four years of college he returned to Manilla to make his home. On May 19, 1979, Al was united in marriage with Mary Maas at the First United Methodist Church in Denison. They made their home in Denison where Al was employed at Earl May Nursery, owned and operated Evergreen Lawn Service. He then was employed as a Park Ranger with the Crawford County Conservation Department for 17 years, retiring in 2005. At the time of his death he was employed as a driver for Western Iowa Transit in Denison. Al died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 68. Al was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn daughter. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Denison, one step-son, Christopher Bliesman and his wife, Julie of Colorado Spring, Colorado, one step-daughter, Ann and husband, John Thomas of Cedar Falls, Iowa, five grandchildren, Zachary and Jordan Bliesman of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Camden, Joshua and Colten Thomas of Cedar Falls, Iowa, his father and mother-in-law, Harris and La Donna Maas of Denison, two sisters, Paula and husband, Harold Tuttle of Sheldon, Iowa and Mary Ellen and husband, Norman Wilcox of Atlanta, Georgia, one niece, Lynette Korver and husband, Rod of Sheldon, Iowa, two great nephews, other relatives and friends. Private family memorial services were held on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the family home in Denison with a public reception following. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, www.pfannebecker.com , was in charge of arrangements.
