Alan Dennis Gustafson
June 26, 1962 — September 17, 2022
Alan Dennis Gustafson, son of Dennis and Irma (Geissinger) Gustafson was born on June 26, 1962, in Denison, IA. He was a faithful member of Kiron Baptist Church in Kiron, IA, where he was baptized.
“Big Al” attended grade school in Kiron, IA and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1980. He attended Bethel College in St. Paul, MN and graduated in 1984.
On July 10, 1993, Al was united in marriage to Debra Palm at Bethel College. To this union were born three children: Jeffrey, Hannah, and Lydia.
Al held many leadership positions within his church and was passionate about visiting shut ins. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, work ethic, and welcoming personality. Al never met a stranger. We will never forget his love of chocolate milk and donuts.
He retired from his lifelong career of farming in 2012. He was very proud of his family and loved to brag about his children. More than anything, he loved the Lord with everything in him.
Al passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Gracewell (Eventide) Lutheran Home attaining the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 22 days.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Gustafson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra Gustafson of Kiron, IA; his children Jeffrey Gustafson of Nashville, TN; Hannah Gustafson of Ankeny, IA; and Lydia (Caleb) Sturtz of Ankeny, IA; his mother Irma Gustafson of Denison, IA; siblings John (Leslie) Gustafson of Kiron, IA; Bruce Gustafson of Adel, IA; Anita (Kevin) Larson of Denison, IA; and Brian (Kirstin) Gustafson of Adel, IA.
