Albert "Ty" Joseph Frederick
April 10, 1924 — November 11, 2015
Albert Joseph Frederick, “Ty” was born to Peter and Isabel (Schaben) Frederick on April 10, 1924 in Earling, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, where he remained a life-long member. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated with the Class of 1941. After graduation, he worked as a farm hand in the Earling area for various farmers, including the John Tremmel farm where he met his bride-to-be.
On May 7, 1947, Ty was united in marriage to Helen Tremel. They became parents to seven children: Ron, Linda, Connie, JoAnn, Joyce, Judy, and Patti. After their marriage, Ty and Helen moved to a farm west of Earling. In 1962, they purchased their farm where they remained for forty-six years before retiring, selling the livestock and moving into town in July of 2008.
Ty loved his life on the farm, especially raising cattle. Even this past fall, he was out helping combine beans. He enjoyed spending time in his woodshop and in his garden in the summertime. He worked as a substitute mail carrier and was the caretaker and record keeper of St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling for several years.
He was very devoted to his faith and his church, passing on his sense of integrity to his family, of whom he was very proud.
Ty died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, having attained the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and one day. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charlie and William; and sisters: Helen Albert, Marjorie Ausman, Elaine Weis, and Nona Kloewer.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Helen Frederick of Earling, Iowa; son Ron Frederick and his wife Deb of Earling; daughters: Linda Drumm of Centennial, Colorado, Connie and her husband Larry Stoke of Atlantic, Iowa, JoAnn and her husband Val McPhearson of Omaha, Nebraska, Joyce and her husband Dave Naber of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Judy and her husband John Schrecengost of Walnut, Iowa, and Patti and her husband Don Bogler of Harlan, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
