Alden Walter Krueger
January 3, 1930 — December 1, 2017
Alden Walter Krueger was born January 3, 1930 to Arthur and Lucille (Terry) Krueger on the family farm in Hancock, Iowa, and would be the oldest of three children. He was baptized and confirmed at the Oakland Methodist Church. Alden rode his horse to school quite often, and attended Rose Hill Country School until 8th grade and Oakland Community School 9th through 12th grade, graduating in the class of 1948. He also played football for Oakland Community School his senior year.
He was enlisted in the US Army on Active Duty from May 1951 until April 1953, serving as a Construction Specialist in Germany for almost two years during the Korean War. Alden received the Army of Occupation Medal - Germany, and he was honorably discharged after his inactive reserve duty was completed in April 1957.
Alden returned home to the family farm in 1953. He met Lois Jane Yarger while roller skating in Atlantic and the two even appeared on the Rusty Show, square dancing on their roller skates. They were married on February 19, 1956 in Massena, Iowa, and to this union three children were born.
Alden’s whole life was dedicated to his farm, and doing custom work for others. He loved going dancing and riding his Harley. Alden enjoyed family camping trips and going fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. In the evenings, after his work was done for the day, Alden could be found in his recliner with a big bowl of popcorn or shelling peanuts. He was also a member of the Conservation Club.
Alden died on December 1, 2017 on the same farm which he was born and raised, attaining the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 28 days. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Timmy Krueger; brother Lyle Krueger; and sister Karen Carr.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lois Krueger of Hancock, IA; son Terry (Denise) Krueger of Hancock, IA; daughter Teresa (Lyle Edsall) Krueger of Fontanelle, IA; grandchildren Adam (Cassie) Krueger of Walnut, IA; Dustin (Jessica) Krueger of Ankeny, IA; Angela (Nate) Shultz of Seattle, WA; Eric (Sara) Bridegroom of San Antonio, TX; Alden Bridegroom of San Antonio, TX; Felicia Walters of Fontanelle, IA; 14 great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
