Alfred “Sonny” Wede, Jr.
Al “Sonny” Wede, Jr. was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa May 9, 1948 to Alfred Wede, Sr. and Velda (Greer) Wede. He attended elementary school in Persia, Iowa and the rest of schooling in Harlan, Iowa.
He worked various jobs early on. These were at Mickel’s Restaurant and car garages in Harlan. He then worked full-time for Stabilt Construction. Before retiring, he worked at his Uncle Ernie’s gas station in Avoca next to I-80 and at a car garage in Minden. He bought a house in Shelby and has lived there the last 48 years. He put his handyman skills to work remodeling the house in his spare time.
Sonny enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was really a kid at heart himself. He was always one to get a “good deal” on anything. His favorite quote was “Oh well”. He was such a kind and easy-going guy. He loved food, but his favorite food was hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Sonny loved spinning rock & roll records, camping, fishing with buddies, watching football, cooking, going to concerts and old cars. We are sure the Chief’s Superbowl win brought him a big smile in Heaven.
Sonny passed away at his home on February 11, 2023 attaining the age of 74 years, 9 months and 2 days. He is preceded in death by his mother, Velda Miller and his brother, Charles Wede.
