daughter of George and Rose Leiting Maneman. She spent her early years there until the family moved to Varina, Iowa, in the late 1930?s where Alice was graduated from St. Columbkille Catholic High School. Following high school Alice and her sister Rae owned and operated a café in Varina where Alice met her future husband, Henry. On August 20, 1946, Alice was united in marriage with Henry Stedman at Varina, Iowa. Their union was blessed with six children, Bob, David, Judy, Tom, Bonnie and Teri. The Stedmans settled in Vail, Iowa, in 1962 where Alice was employed at Marvin?s Provisions until retiring. In addition to her employment at Marvin?s, Henry and Alice also did upholstery work for area residents. Henry died July 23, 1986 and Alice continued to reside in Vail working part time at Marvin?s. In April 1989, Alice was united in marriage with Lute Longnecker at St. Ann?s Catholic Church in Vail. They maintained homes in Vail and Fonda, Iowa, until moving to the Carroll Health Center, Carroll, Iowa in 2003 where Lute died December 24, 2003. Through the years in her spare time Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, making rosaries, gardening, flowers, feeding the birds, attending auctions, reading, doing crafts, painting and was a very competitive card player. She enjoyed her memberships in St. Ann?s Catholic Church, St. Ann?s Altar Society, Legion Auxiliary, Sweet Adalines and for many years organized the Red Cross Blood Drives in Vail. Alice died Saturday morning, October 13, 2007, at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 84 years, 1 month and 19 day. Including her parents and her two husbands, Alice was also preceded in death by one son, David Stedman and three brothers, Bob, Dick and Jim Maneman. Those remaining to cherish her memory include five children, Bob Stedman and wife, Sandy of Parker, Colorado, Judy and husband, Gerry Gritzmacher of Rock Falls, Iowa, Tom Stedman of Eugene, Oregon, Bonnie and husband T. J. Kosmicki of Pine Island, Minnesota, and Teri and husband, Brian Brockman of Glidden, Iowa, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, six step-children, Jim Longnecker of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dave Longnecker and wife, Lisa of Seattle, Washington, Bob Longnecker and wife, Mary of Denver, Colorado, Ann and husband, Rick Hankenson of Clarksville, Tennessee, Frank Longnecker and friend Martha of Denver, Colorado, and Tony Longnecker and wife, Laurie of West Des Moines, Iowa, 8 step-grandchildren one brother, Bert Maneman and wife, Mary Ellen of Omaha, Nebraska, five sisters, Rae Biittner of Vining, Minnesota, Ione Bojanski of Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Lou and husband, Dick Naughton of Marshalltown, Iowa, Georgia and husband, Robert Goltl of Omaha, Nebraska and Karen and husband, Mark Hakenkamp of Lincoln, Nebraska, two brothers-in-law, Norman Stedman and wife, Shirley of San Antonio, Texas, and Jack Longnecker of Carroll, Iowa, one sister-in-law, Dorothy Longnecker of Urbandale, Iowa, other relatives and friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007, at St. Ann?s Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa, with Father John Thomas as Celebrant. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 in the Activity Room at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa.
