Alice Miller
September 15, 1920 — December 26, 2010
Alice Marie Miller was born on September 15, 1920, on a farm south of Avoca, Iowa. She was the third child of Frederick Gerald Miller, Sr., and Mary (Nelson) Miller. Alice had a brother James and sister Marion.
After the divorce of her parents, Alice continued living with her mother in Avoca. Her mother then married Fred Petersen. Fred�s brother Herman built them a home on South Pine in Avoca and this has been her home ever since. Alice was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca and would attend many of the church functions.
After the death of her step-father, Fred Petersen in 1947, Alice�s mother married Andrew Therkeldsen in November of 1959 and they continued to make their home in Avoca.
Alice died at her home on Sunday, December 26, 2010 having attained the age of ninety years, three months, and eleven days. In addition to her mother and father, Alice was preceded in death by her brother, James Miller and her step-fathers, Fred Petersen and Andrew Therkeldsen. She is survived by her sister, Marian Taylor of Atlantic; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Pastor Dennis Reich officiated the 2:00 P.M. funeral service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Interment was held in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca with Cliff Young, Kenneth Woltmann, Nick Hope, Steve Yates and Larry Wingert serving as casket bearers.
