Alice E. Wegner Profile Photo
My name is Alice Kaufmann Wegner. I was born on a farm north east of Westphalia, Iowa in a large white house that our parents built. In those days the Doctor would come to the home to deliver the baby. I was born after supper to Papa August and Mama Mary Kaufmann. I was baptized, confirmed and my school days were at St. Boniface, in Westphalia. Those days we went to school with a horse and buggy.
My husband’s name was Herbert Wegner and we married August 23, 1944. We had nice weather, which made a pleasant wedding day. I was a homemaker, I love reading - good reading is wonderful - and our occupation was farming. We have always lived in a house, the first one Herb & I had did not have a bathroom. Back in those days electricity had not come to the farm in our early years of marriage. During our 70 years of marriage, we lived, loved, prayed and grew our family in Panama, Iowa.
We have three surviving children - Philip George Wegner and his wife Carol, Ruth Ann Wegner Huebert, Norma Mary Wegner and her husband Jan Randall and 3 angels in heaven.
Our grandchildren are ten in number, our great-grandchildren are 15 in number and we have 1 great-great grandchild.
The best thing parents can do for their children is to love each other.
