Alice Ann Young, daughter of Samuel and Frances (Lacy) Jordan, was born May 2, 1931 in Ross, Iowa. She attended Audubon School, where she was Homecoming Queen and graduated in 1950.
On December 22, 1950, Alice was united in marriage to James Young. To this union three children were born: Michael James, Jeffery Allen, and Patrice Colleen. Alice obtained her LPN License so she could care for her 2 sons. She later worked at Myrtue Medical Center and the Baptist Home in Harlan. She enjoyed attending Bible Studies when possible, was an avid reader and always had the cookie jar full of Oreos for visitors. The past three and a half years Alice made her home at Elm Crest, where she became part of their family, enjoying many activities and loving care of their staff.
Alice died Monday, September 23, 2019 at Elm Crest Retirement in Harlan, Iowa, attaining eighty-eight years, four months and twenty-one days. She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Frances Jordan, husband James Young, sons Michael and Jeffrey Young.
She is survived by her daughter Patrice and her husband Tim Turner of Harlan, Iowa; siblings Bill Jordan and his wife Linda of Panora, Iowa; Franklin Jordan and his wife Pat of Citrus Heights, California; Lee and her husband Verdon Sorensen of Shenandoah, Iowa; nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Alice leaves a legacy of love and acceptance for all and will be greatly missed.
