Alma Gene Reynolds was born to Albert Glen and Kathryn Irene (Hobbs) Reynolds on July 22, 1926. She started school at a rural country school in Missouri and when the family moved to Iowa, she attended school in Kirkman and later Tennant where she graduated. Alma was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.
She married Francis Louis Carter in Harlan Iowa on November 29, 1944. To that union three children were born: Ron, Rickey and Debra. She later married Raymond Julius Neubauer in Council Bluffs Iowa on May 3, 1969.
Alma worked at the Hiway Motel; R.C. Booth Enterprises; White Star Café as a waitress; ran the kitchen at Western Iowa Pork; nurses aid at Myrtue Memorial Hospital. Alma enjoyed quilting and making crafts. She was involved in many community organizations and was president of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary of Harlan. Alma was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alma died at Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn, Iowa on Wednesday December 3, 2014 having attained the age of eighty-eight years, four months and eleven days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Rickey Carter; brother Wayne Reynolds; and grandchildren Kelly and Casy Hansen.
Alma is survived by children: Ron Carter and his wife Connie of Harlan Iowa; Debra and her husband Dennis Hansen of Carroll Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sally Carter of Harlan; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; her brother Charles Reynolds and his wife Judy of Omaha Nebraska; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
