Alma Jeanette Wilwerding, daughter of Floyde and Violet (Cox) Bredensteiner was born March 18, 1940 in Northboro, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Northboro. She attended grade school and graduated from Northboro High School with the Class of 1958.
After high school, Alma worked as a nurses’ aid at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, and did work for an insurance firm in Omaha, Nebraska. On September 26, 1964, Alma was united in marriage to Edward Wilwerding of Defiance, Iowa. She became as instant mother to his four children, one son and three daughters then more two daughters joined the family, Joanne and Patricia. Edward and Alma remained in Defiance, where they owned and operated dairy trucks and would haul milk to the Kimballton Creamery in Kimballton, Iowa. After retiring from driving truck, Alma worked at CDS in Harlan, Iowa.
Alma died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the Selected Specialty Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska, attaining the age of seventy-six years, nine months and thirteen days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward.
She is survived by her children Pat and her husband Jerry Bissen of Harlan, Iowa; Joanne and her husband Mike Erlbacher of Earling, Iowa; Linda Barragan of Defiance, Iowa; Diane and her husband Dave Lothridge of Omaha, Nebraska; Denny Wilwerding and his wife Lou of Omaha, Nebraska; Julie Mathison of Stanton, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren plus two on the way; brother Gary Bredensteiner and his wife Cheryl of Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers-in-law Bernie Wilwerding and his wife Mary of Earling, Iowa; Howie Wilwerding and his wife Nancy of Boca Raton, Florida; sister-in-law Jan “Sis” Larrison of Defiance, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
