Andrew John Boettger was born on February 5th, 1974 in Harlan, Iowa and left us way too soon at the age of 49 on July 7th, 2023. Andy was born and raised in Harlan, Iowa and was a proud graduate of Harlan Community High School in 1992. He began his undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and later transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Andy married Laura Lynn McCullough in 1998 and they later divorced. In 2005, he completed his law degree at Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, VA. In 2005, he joined Hastings, Gartin & Boettger Law Firm in Ames, IA becoming a partner in 2011. Andy served on the Iowa Parole Board for two years ending in 2022 as Chair. Andy had just begun his service as General Counsel for Haverkamp Group in June 2023. Throughout his life, Andy was involved in the political arena, from interning in D.C. to working on several presidential campaigns.
Andy was an amazing father to his 10 beautiful children; Cassandra Elita (2000), Autumn Jolayn (2000), Mariyana Moriah (2202), Roska Vella (2204), Noël Columbia (2004), Liberty Lynn (2006), Tor David (2008), Dietrich Timothy (2010), Bronwyn Taline (2012), and Inger Marjorie (2015).
Loved ones that cleared the path for Andy were his grandparents Allan & Helen Abrahamson, and Herman & Bertha Boettger.
Loved ones that will miss Andy until they meet again are his children, his parents Dave and Nancy, his brother Allan (Jennifer), their boys Jordan and Micah, brother Tim (Kris), their kids Isaac (Katie) and Adrienne, sister Sarah (Micah Moore), their kids Eden and Caleb, along with many, many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Andy's memory to Harvest Vineyard Church of Ames or Eyerly Ball Community Mental Health Center/Unity Point Health Des Moines. Andy was a loyal, active member of his church and a board member of Eyerly Ball for many years. Both organizations meant a great deal to him.
Passionate Man of God, fiercely loyal son, brother, father, and joyful friend, we will miss your presence, your encouragement, your laughter, your emojis, and your multitude of musical talents. Thank you for the generosity of your time and resources, and for the love you showed to all the communities and families around you. You are so loved.
