Anna Margaret Kenney, born December 9, 1923 at the Leinen farmstead a couple miles east of Portsmouth, Iowa. The fifth child of ten, born to Peter Frances and Mary (Thielen) Leinen. Baptized, confirmed, schooled, and married at St. Mary’s Church in Portsmouth. Married to Phillip David Kenney of Persia, Iowa. Six sons: Patrick, Michael, Timothy, Donald, Daniel, and James.
After high school, Anna attended and graduated as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1951. Anna worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for one year, and St. Anthony’s Hospital for one year. Then they moved to Littleton, Colorado and she worked at Swedish Medical Center Hospital in Englewood, Colorado for 45 years, and upon retirement of herself and husband, they moved back to Portsmouth, Iowa and built their retirement home. She was a member of Catholic Daughters and Widows and Widowers (WOW).
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Louis, Harold, Mathias and Lawrence, sisters Agnes Hodapp, Helena Ebert, Evelyn Long, Barbara Goodman, Rosemary Laing, and son Daniel. Survived by sons Patrick, Michael, Timothy, Donald and James. In Loving Memory of
