Private family memorial inurnment services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa, followed by a public memorial reception and luncheon for friends and family at Cronk’s in Denison at 11:00 a.m.
Anna Jane Mundt was born in Defiance, Iowa, August 16, 1918, the daughter of John R. and Daisy Hannon Hunter. She was raised on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa, and graduated from Dunlap High School with the class of 1937. Following high school, she was employed at the ASC office in Denison. In 1941, Jane was united in marriage with Thomas S. Hutcheson and their union was blessed with two sons, Thomas and Paul. They made their home in Omaha, where Jane was employed at Clarkson Hospital. After Omaha, the family lived in Ida Grove before moving to Denison. Jane was employed in the offices of Dr. Darrel Crabb and Dr. R. L. Bendixen until her retirement in 1984. Following retirement, Jane wintered in Arizona. On March 14, 1985, she married Reinhard H. Mundt in Scottsdale. They made their home in Denison and continued to spend their winters in Arizona. Following Reiney’s death on November 8, 1995, Jane moved to Prescott, Arizona. She later moved to Scottsdale to reside with her sisters Audrey and Jean. They were known to many as the “Golden Girls” and had many happy years together until health issues forced them to separate. Jane moved to Silveridge in Denison in October of 2012 and her many Denison friends welcomed her back. Jane was a formidable bridge player and had many happy hours with her bridge playing friends. She also loved playing euchre with family members of all ages. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Jane also belonged to PEO and retained her membership wherever she lived. Jane died Friday evening, July 4, 2014, at Eventide in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had lived 95 years, 10 months and 18 days. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Daisy Hunter, her husband Reinhard H. Mundt, her son Paul A. Hutcheson and one sister, Jean Haskell. Those remaining to cherish her memory include one son, Thomas Hutcheson of Indio, California and his daughter Erica; Paul’s children, Kyle Hutcheson of Urbandale, Iowa and Brooke Hutcheson of Denver, Colorado and their mother Julie Rogers of Urbandale, Iowa; two stepsons and their wives, Barry and Jacqueline Mundt and Michael and Lori Mundt of Denison, Iowa; one brother John R. Hunter of Clarinda, Iowa; one sister Audrey Lyon of Seattle, Washington; eight step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
