Ardelle Mae Lorenzen was born on July 9, 1931, on a farm in rural Corley, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Juanita Margaret (Dreyer) Lorenzen. She grew up in the Corley, Hancock and Walnut, Iowa areas and attended school for awhile. Ardelle moved into the Peace Haven Retirement Home in Walnut in 1979 and lived there until moving to Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa in 2014.

She especially enjoyed her birthday celebrations with her entire family, a tradition that continued right up until her death.

Ardelle enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos where she would only spend a dollar playing the slot machines. She was a life-long member of Peace United Church in Walnut.

Ardelle died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Atlantic Specialty Care having attained the age of eighty-five years, six months, and two days. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister LaVon Becht, and brother Stanley Lorenzen.
