Armella Claire, daughter of Paul and Mary (Heinzlmeir) Bissen, was born July 16, 1933 on a farm near Defiance, Iowa, being the tenth child of twelve. She was baptized at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Defiance. She graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Dunlap, Iowa, where she was a cheerleader and May Queen.
Armella met the love of her life, Germain Reding at a dance and they were united in marriage on November 21, 1955 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dunlap, Iowa. Together they raised four children: Cindy, Gary, Peggy and Jeff.
Armella's first job was as an assistant at a doctor's office in Dunlap, Iowa. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker and mother. She then embarked on a career at American Greetings and eventually retired from Albertson's Pharmacy.
As a talented artist, Armella's hobbies of scrapbooking, painting, sewing, restoration of antiques and painting china dolls showed her fine hand to detail. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time in the garden, listening to music, quiet time reading and shopping.
Over the last eight years, Armella fought Parkinson's Disease. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Ridgewood Retirement Community in Bennington, Nebraska, attaining the age of eighty-four years, two months and seventeen days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Gary Reding, siblings Melvin Bissen, Donald Bissen, Sr. Leona Bissen, Stella Hodapp, Joseph Bissen, Rita Benjamin, Theresa Simmons and Marie Jans.
She has left to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-three years Germain "Don" Reding of Omaha, Nebraska; children Cindy and her husband Ralph Werthmann of Savannah, Georgia; Peggy and her husband Dan Pinkerton of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Jeff Reding and his wife Peggy of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Regina, Amy, Jeffrey, Jerry and Megan; great grandchildren Samuel and Gwendolyn; siblings Margaret Adams of Omaha, Nebraska; Paul Bissen and his wife Martha of Harlan, Iowa; Kenneth Bissen and his wife Alma of Cedar Grove, Tennessee; nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends.
