Barbara J. Johnston

Barbara Jane "Janie" Johnston, daughter of Paul and Edna B. (Schnellar) Frazier, was born on January 4, 1948, in Woodstock, Illinois. She later moved with her family to the Dunlap area where she attended school.
Janie began working at Goodwill and in the hotel industry working her way up to a management position. She enjoyed collecting small trinkets, Precious Memories figurines, and butterfly figurines. Family was very important to Janie and she treasured the time she spent with them. All of her grandchildren were very special to her.
On February 13, 1979, Barbara was united in marriage to Dennis Johnston in New York.
Janie loved to spend time outdoors camping and fishing. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together, crocheting, and knitting.
Janie died on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, having attained the age of sixty-two years, four months, and six days. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Karman Mosher and her granddaughter, Iyeshah Dawn Silva Johnston.
She is survived by her children: Kandy Max of Harlan, Iowa; Larry Rock and his wife Peggy of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Kookie and her husband Donald LaHair of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Kristal McDonald of Harlan, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Mary Simard of New York; Elizabeth and her husband Richard Krotfer of Munster, Indiana; Deloris and her husband Robert Drilling of Lake View, Iowa; Paula and her husband James Kirby of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Joyce and her husband John Leckband of Sutherland, Iowa; Larry Paul Frazier and his wife Sandy of Cherokee, Iowa; and Bill Frazier and his wife Kathy of Burnside, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, with Pastor Roy North officiating the 1:00 PM service
