Barbara J. Molash was born at Decatur, Illinois, December 27, 1923, the daughter of Maynard and Louise Bowman Harvell. She was raised at Decatur where she graduated from high school with the class of 1941. She then attended Business College in St. Louis, Missouri. During World War II she was employed in a Military Factory in Decatur. On December 10, 1944, Barbara was united in marriage with Walter Molash at Decatur, Illinois. The family later moved to St. Louis Park, Minnesota where, after raising her family, Barbara was employed for many years at the Made In Scandinavia Store. While residing in Minnesota she was an active member of her Lutheran Church. Walter died in 1978 and Barbara continued to reside in Minnesota until 1984 when she moved to Denison, Iowa, to care for her daughter Sherrill and family. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, following the Minnesota Vikings games, reading, singing and most importantly, loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Denison, United Methodist Women, church choir, Christian Women?s Club, AARP, DAR and for many years delivered Meals on Wheels to area shut-ins. Barbara died early Monday, October 6, 2008, at her home in Denison, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 84 years, 9 months and 9 days. Including her parents and husband, Barbara was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrill J. Hansen on November 21, 2003. Those remaining to cherish her memory include two sons, Douglas Molash of Cedar City, Utah and Scott Molash and wife, Connie Nelson of Longmont, Colorado, son-in-law, Gary Hansen of Denison, three grandchildren, Jennifer Hansen of St. Paul, Minnesota and Jeffrey and Jeremy Hansen of Denison, Iowa, one brother, Larry Harvell and wife, Lois of Washington Island, Wisconsin, sister-in-law, Lenora Phelps of Fort Myers, Florida, two nephews, Brett Harvell of Chicago, Illinois, Glenn Harvell of Dallas, Texas, one niece, Jean Wright of Chicago, Illinois, other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service included the congregation singing, "Here I Am Lord", Gary Hansen singing "The Lord?s Prayer" and Jeff Hansen singing "And This Is My Beloved" with Nancy Miles serving as accompanist and organist. Eulogists included Gary Hansen and Douglas Molash with Jeremy Hansen serving as Liturgist. Inurnment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Immediately following the memorial service the family invited everyone to join them in the church fellowship hall for a luncheon prepared and served by the United Methodist Women.
