Barbara Morgan, daughter of Wilhelm and Ethel (Dau) Janssen, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 12, 1929. She lived in the Persia, Iowa area until she moved to Lincoln Township in Shelby County where she graduated from Harlan High in 1947. She was married to Victor Morgan on September 5, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa.
Barbara was an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving on many committees and in many offices in the United Methodist Women. She was honored as Mother of the Year in 1988. She has also been a 4-H leader, 4-H County Committee member, a member of Friday Club, and a Sunday school teacher.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vic, parents Wilhelm and Ethel Janssen, sister Betty Nelson, brother Harley Janssen, and grandson Nathan Lee. She is survived by her children: Kathy Lee of Austin, Texas; Kent Morgan and his wife Deb of Harlan, Iowa; Karen and her husband Roy Fordyce of Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren: Jamie Lee of Austin, Texas; Jason Morgan of Des Moines, Iowa; Amber and her husband Matthew Schmitz of Harlan, Iowa; Holly and her husband Tyler Buckingham of St. Charles, Iowa; Rachel and her husband Nick Staab of La Vista, Nebraska; Austin Fordyce of Papillion, Nebraska; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends. Barbara passed away peacefully at Elm Crest Retirement Center on December 14, 2016.
