Sr. Bernice Schmitz

Bernice Schmitz, daughter of Bernard and Eleanor (Gubbels) Schmitz, was born on July 12, 1925 on a farm near Westphalia, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. She entered St. Joseph’s Convent on December 1, 1944. Her Profession was in June 6, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She became a resident of Elm Crest Retirement Community. Sister Bernice died at the Lady of Angels in Greenfield, Wisconsin on September 7, 2019.
She is survived by her brother Lester Schmitz, sisters Arlene Hodapp, and Sister Lorraine Schmitz. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Eleanor; siblings Eugene (Donna Schnuetttgen), Eldred, LaVern (Mary Henkleman), Bernadette (Paul Conkel), Marceline (Francis Bissen), Luana (Verner Schmitz), and Luella Hull, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
