Betty J. Georgius

Betty J. Georgius was born at Castana, Iowa, November 21, 1931, the daughter of Jerry and Hannah Shullenberger Hall. She was raised there where she graduated from high school with the class of 1949. Betty was united in marriage with Floyd Riddle and their union was blessed with four sons: Gary, Craig, Brian and Barry. They farmed in the Ute area until Mr. Riddle’s death. On February 14, 1970, Betty was united in marriage with Robert E. Georgius in Omaha, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with one son, Kevin. They made their home in Denison until moving to their acreage southwest of Denison. Betty was employed at Farmland in Denison for 23 years and was currently a sales associate for Wal-Mart in Denison where she had been employed for the past 15 years. Robert died May 4, 2002 and Betty continued to reside on their acreage at Denison. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, trying her luck at Sloan, gardening, especially her flowers, cooking, raising chickens, ducks, geese and making sure her family always had a fresh turkey for holidays. Betty died Tuesday morning, April 26, 2011, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 79 years, 5 months and 5 days. Including her parents and her husbands, Floyd Riddle and Robert Georgius, Betty was also preceded in death by eleven siblings, two sons: Gary and Brian Riddle; and one step-son, Brad Georgius. Those remaining to cherish her memory include three sons: Craig Riddle of Phoenix, Arizona, Barry Riddle of Rye, New Hampshire, and Kevin Georgius and wife, Cammie of Denison, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Linda Riddle of Ute, Iowa; five step-children: Kim Christensen and husband, Barry of Manilla, Iowa, Mike Georgius and wife, Julie of Buck Grove, Iowa, Steve Georgius of Powell, Wyoming, Bob Georgius and wife, Patty of Thermopolis, Wyoming, and Danny Georgius and wife, Holly of North Platte, Nebraska; step-daughter-in-law: Lana Georgius of Manilla, Iowa; 27 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one sister: Jane Enfield of Council Bluffs, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
