Bill Bruce Stockwell, son of Lewis and Nellie (Hartness) Stockwell was born September 22, 1940 in Ridgeway, Missouri. He attended country school until the 8th grade. In 1957, he enlisted into the US Navy, he served his country honorably until May of 1960.
On February 24, 1961, Bill was united in marriage to Lois Buss at Hanscom Park Methodist Church. They were blessed with four children: Karolyn, Kim, Terri, and Bill. He owned and operated Stockwell Construction and was partners with his son in B & B Tiling, working with heavy equipment and doing dirt work for many farmers in the area.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and bird watching. He also liked tinkering at his shop, playing cards and watching documentaries. He loved animals and hanging out and playing with his grandkids.
Bill died on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 surrounded by his family at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, attaining the age of eighty years, seven months, and six days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons-in-law Rick Andersen, Robin Kautz, Brian “Swede” Johnson, grandson Tom Johnson, siblings Harold Stockwell, Robert Stockwell, Roxie Schwinderman, Jessie Stockwell, Patricia Dills, and Al Stockwell.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Lois Stockwell of Elk Horn, Iowa; children Karolyn Andersen of Omaha, Nebraska; Kim Kautz of Bedford, Iowa; Terri Johnson of Vermillion, South Dakota; Bill Stockwell and his wife Cathy of Elk Horn, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings Nita Adams and Larry Stockwell; many nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
