Brad “House” Allan Knauss was born October 3, 1976 in Harlan, Iowa to Ronald and Lucy (Wendt) Knauss. He went to Harlan Community Schools and graduated in 1996. He lived in Portsmouth, Iowa most of his life and most recently had moved to Earling, Iowa.
Brad played football for Harlan and was a Nose Guard on the PAT. Also during high school, he got a job with the TNI Program at Midwest towing, this is where his interest in dirt track racing started. When he was growing up he enjoyed fishing, and later in life he found his passion for Dirt Track racing. Brad and his brothers owned car #92 for 10 years, he won several races and championships. He loved going to the races, but hated the tires getting dirty, he would even repaint the letters of the tires white again. He was always very neat and made sure to never leave the house if his outfit or hair wasn’t “just right.” This habit followed over into the race car and he even made sure to re-whiten the words on the tires before the races. Brad’s love of sports wasn’t just racing, but also for Nebraska Cornhusker Football. He loved getting together with friends and watching the Huskers play.
Brad was a very social person and always enjoyed having his friends around. He co-owned and operated several bars throughout the years in different places, including Persia, Minden, Harlan, and most recently ran “The Big House” in Earling. Running the bars brought together his passion for sports, friends, and Michelob Ultra!
Brad passed away on January 7, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 41 years, three months, and four days old. Brad is preceded in death by his grandparents Doris and Wendell Knauss.
