Brandon W. Wahling
August 26, 1975 — November 1, 2008
Brandon Wayne Wahling was born on August 26, 1975, to David Wahling and Barbara Bowen in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Shelby Lutheran Church in Shelby, Iowa. Brandon attended the AHST school system and graduated with the Class of 1994.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and attended the Journeyman/Electrician Advanced Training school. He served his country for five years, of which two were at Camp David, before he was honorably discharged and returned home.
His first civilian job was with Interstates Electric in Sioux Center. From there he moved to South Kansas City Electric and was presently working at Wachter Electric in Kansas City.
Brandon�s hobbies included trap shooting and Nascar racing. He loved going to concerts and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa State Cyclones play. He was a great problem solver and could fix just about anything. He was never afraid to tackle any project. He loved his family and they were very important in his life.
Brandon died on Saturday, November 1, 2008, as a result of a tragic automobile accident. He had attained the age of thirty-three years, two months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorna Wahling and his grandfathers: Edgar Wahling, Ray Gans, and Cyrus Monson, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Cheyenne Wahling of Shelby, Iowa; his father David Wahling of Shelby, Iowa; brother Matthew Sternberg and his wife Janae of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his grandmothers: Mada Wahling of Avoca, Iowa and Arline Gans of Irwin, Iowa; his close friend Jennifer DeVille of Lees Summit, Missouri; birth mother Barbara Bowen of Texas; other family members and many friends. He was a very good father and provider to his daughter, Cheyenne.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 6, 2008 with Pastor Duane Anunson officiating the 1:00 PM service at the Shelby Lutheran Church in Shelby, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers were Paul Frazier, Richard Armstrong, Chuck Landa, Mel Hursey, Steve Allen, Tom Benson, Ronnie Eggerss, and Kenny Escher. Serving as casket bearers were Wade Erdmann, Scott Schowewgerdt, Mark McLaughlin, Ian Monson, Wade Knoke, Joel Wahing, Dave Dirth, and Alex Monson. Military rites were held at the Shelby Cemetery by the Shelby American Legion Post No. 240.
