Brenda Lee Dollen, daughter of Bertram and Mamie (Simonson) Dickason, was born on May 1, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Council bluffs, grew up around the Council Bluffs area and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. After high school, she attended Iowa Western Community College to major in business. In 1988, she was united in marriage to Roger Dollen.
Brenda was an extensive world traveler, was a journalist for the Avoca Newspaper, wrote 3 “Red Wing” books, restored an antique house in Avoca and lived at the Spread Ranch. After an extended illness, Brenda passed away surrounded by her loving family at Myrtue Medical Center having attained the age of 76 years, 3 months and 2 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bertram and Mamie; and brother, Kent.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Roger Dollen of Avoca, Iowa; son Troy (Julie) Petry of Council Bluffs, IA; 5 grandchildren: Justin Petry (Jenny Bachman) of Council Bluffs, IA; Joshua Petry of Council Bluffs, IA; Jamie (Brad) Hansen of Council Bluffs, IA; Jessica (Travis) Humbert of Underwood, IA; Jordan Mota of Omaha, NE; 10 great-grandchildren: Austyn, Kaleb, Joshua Jr., Jayci, Oakley, Kaiden, Raelynn, Kaliyah, Kinsley and Sebastian; sisters-in-law Jane Dickason and Darla Englert; nephews Brent Dickason and Trey Englert; and many friends.
