Calvin Vernon Leaders was born on October 3, 1958 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Vernon and Edna (Alloway) Leaders. He was baptized and confirmed at the Underwood Lutheran Church in Underwood, Iowa. He attended high school in Underwood and graduated with the Class of 1977.
Calvin worked at The Vickers hydraulic pump factory in Omaha, Nebraska for 15 years. In addition to helping his brother farm, he also drove truck for Enterprise Transportation and for his brother with Charlie M. Leaders Trucking.
Calvin was the father of two daughters: Krystal and Anna, whom he loved dearly. He was a great father, brother and papa. He loved collecting Minneapolis Moline Tractors. He worked hard and enjoyed making hay and driving truck.
Calvin died on Friday, December 16, 2011 in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of fifty-three years, two months and thirteen days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister LaVonne Leaders, sister-in-law Marilyn Leaders, brother-in-law LaVern Wax, and a nephew Vernon Stueve.
He is survived by his two daughters: Krystal Brunow of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Anna Leaders of Pawnee, Illinois; three grandchildren: JoJo Brunow, Jerry Brunow and Kaiden Daugherty; his siblings: LaVern Leaders and his wife Janet of Underwood, Iowa, Nancy and her husband Ernie Stueve of Logan, Iowa, Charles Leaders and his significant other Lynn Peterson of Minden, Iowa, and Rozanne Wax of Hemingford, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Pastor Brian Wohlhuter officiated the 10:30 am funeral service at the Minden United Church of Christ in Minden, Iowa on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Honorary casket bearers were his grandchildren: JoJo Brunow, Jerry Brunow and Kaiden Daugherty. Interment was held at the Minden Cemetery with Joe Leaders, Mike Leaders, Brian Leaders, Lynn Leaders, Ed Stueve, Allen Stueve, Jeremy Wax and Danny Wax serving as honorary casket bearers.
