Carolyn L. Fiscus
September 7, 1946 — March 17, 2011
Carolyn Lee Fiscus was born on September 7, 1946 to George and Jeanette (Schmitz) Rasmussen in Harlan, Iowa. She attended grade school in the Harlan Elementary Schools and graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1964.
On July 3, 1965, Carol was united in marriage to Terry Fiscus at the United Methodist Church in Irwin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Lyn, Dustin, and Jeremy George. After marriage she worked as a secretary for the Harlan High School. After the arrival of her children, she continued part time at the school and later became a stay at home mom. As the kids grew she started working at Buckley and Sojka law offices. She enjoyed law work and even went to school to work toward a paralegal degree. In 1992, she started work at Salvo, Deren, Schenck, and Lauterbach law office where she was presently employed.
Carol thoroughly enjoyed doing activities with her grandchildren, attending school functions, having pool parties at their home with the family and friends and loved going on family vacations. Carol enjoyed working on her computer. She was very active in her church, the United Methodist Women�s group and was currently serving as church treasurer.
Carol died on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at her home in Kirkman, having attained the age of sixty-four years, six months, and ten days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of forty-five years Terry Fiscus of Kirkman, Iowa; her daughter Lyn and her husband Troy Ahrenholtz of Defiance, Iowa; sons Dustin Fiscus and his wife Angie of Blue Springs, Missouri and Jeremy George Fiscus and his wife Amy of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Emma, Anna, and Isaiah Ahrenholtz, Dalton and Eli Fiscus and Mya and Maira Fiscus; sisters: Kathy and her husband Clint Kienast, Lois and her husband Ron Heese, and Nancy and her husband Phillip Nielsen all of Kirkman; brothers Andy Rasmussen and his wife Kathy of Irwin and Randy Rasmussen and his wife Lois of Omaha, Nebraska; mother-in-law Violet Fiscus of Harlan; brother-in-law Kelly Fiscus of Kirkman; sister-in-law Joleen Fiscus of Harlan; other family members and many friends.
Pastor Leila Blackburn officiated the 10:30 AM Funeral Service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa on Monday, March 21, 2011. Interment was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Kirkman, Iowa with Clinton Kienast, Mark Peterson, Gary Holloway, Karl Hanson, Ron Heese, and Phil Nielsen serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Pete Petersen, Ron Ronfeldt, Kelly Fiscus, and Pat Deren
