Charles Glen Ballantine, age 61, - Left this world for Heaven on September 8, 2016. Chuck was born on September 6, 1955 to parents Glen and Genevieve (Wilson) Ballantine in Denison, Iowa. He lived all his life (except for a few months of early married life) one mile south and two miles east of Kiron. He attended grade school in Kiron and began riding Ray’s bus to Denison in middle school. He graduated from Denison High School in 1973. In Chuck’s senior year of high school he began farming full time with the help of his parents. For 43 years he has worked hard to stay current and competitive in the ever-changing profession of farming. He loved learning about and incorporating new farming technology. On February 15th, 1977, Chuck married Stephanie Yousling at the First Baptist Church in Kiron. In March of 1980 they moved to Chuck’s childhood home, where they raised three daughters: Brooke Tara, Claire Danae, and Beth Annika. Chuck trusted Christ as his Savior and always focused on living with integrity and honoring God through his interactions at work and in everyday life. Chuck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kiron. He was baptized at the age of 13. He played an active role in the church beginning in his teen years. He was a Boy’s Brigade Leader, camp counselor, high school and adult Sunday school teacher, deacon, usher, and a member of the Christian Education Board. Together he and Stephanie served for over 35 years as Junior High Youth Leaders. They most recently have been leading a parent group at the 252 Club. Chuck was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and Papa. He enjoyed all kinds of motor sports and attending races around the Midwest. Chuck loved traveling and always made friends wherever he went. Family vacations were a priority and the girls have great memories of Branson, Yellowstone Park, Maine, Washington, California, Canada and Florida. Throughout the last ten years Chuck loved experiencing the history, scenery and people of Italy and Spain. Chuck’s favorite spot away from home was Maui where he could relax on the beach with Stephanie. Left to continue his legacy are his wife Stephanie of 39 ½ years; children: Brooke Ballantine of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Claire (David) Leppert of Granada, Spain, and Beth (fiancé Jarrod Tembreull) Ballantine of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Papa to Caleb Ballantine Leppert. He is also survived by his parents Glen and Genevieve Ballantine of Kiron, Iowa and his sister Connie (Steve) Sawyer of Lenox, Iowa as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Kiron, Iowa with Pastor Bruce Kaihoi officiating. The Worship Team provided music of “In Christ Alone”, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “10,000 Reasons”. Mrs. John W. Larson served as pianist. Pallbearers were Dennis Lindskoog, Curt Larson, John Gustafson, Fred Coltrain, Josh Blair, and Pat Lahr. Interment was at the Kiron Cemetery, Kiron, Iowa. Following the graveside rites and burial the family invited everyone to join them at the church for fellowship and a luncheon provided by Hy-Vee Catering and First Baptist Social Committee. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa was in charge of arrangements where a visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016.
