Cheryl B. (Jones) Carrier was born in Little Sioux, Iowa on August 25, 1945 to Raymond and Freda (Little) Jones. She was raised by her grandmother and attended West Harrison High School in Mondamin, Iowa. After graduation she enrolled at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs to complete her degree in Clinical Reception.
She was united into marriage to Richard Carrier until his passing. Cheryl moved to Avoca in 1969. She started off in a farmhouse outside of Avoca and then moved to town in the early 90's. She would sit and gossip on the porch with Janet Popp. Cheryl gave birth to three wonderful children: Sonja, Travis, and Steven.
Cheryl loved romantic novels, and she was one hell of a cook. She was passionate about family and was always willing to take in others that needed support. She raised three grandkids and legally adopted three children, 1 grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Cheryl will always be remembered as “one hell of a woman”. She wasn’t a tv watcher but recently was into Criminal Minds on Netflix. Angels and Elvis were some of her favorites and now she will get to find out if Elvis really did die.
On Thursday, April 9, 2020, Cheryl passed away at her home having attained the age of seventy-four years, seven months and fifteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Freda; siblings Gerald “Dutch”, Sharon, Deetta and Mike.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Sonja Urich of Omaha, Nebraska; Travis (Kimberly) Carrier of Harlan, Iowa; Steven (Becky) Carrier of Shelby, Iowa; grandchildren Nicole Bittner of Nebraska; Jeremy Carrier of Harlan, Iowa; Whitney Carrier of Harlan, Iowa; Shelby Urich of Omaha, Nebraska; great-granddaughters Hailey Good of Harlan, Iowa and Madison Good of Avoca, Iowa; other family and many, many friends.
