Cheryl Ann Musich was born on April 4, 1944, to Laverne and Josephine (Kohles) Goetzinger in Buck Grove, Iowa. She attended country school near Buck Grove. After moving to the Defiance area, she attended school in Manilla, Iowa, graduating in 1962. She moved to Westphalia, Iowa, in September 1962 where she worked and met the love of her life, Dennis Musich.
Cheryl and Dennis were united in marriage in Manilla, Iowa, on June 15, 1963. Five children were born to this union: Darla, Jeff, Dale, Darrin, and Kim. The couple made Harlan, Iowa, their hometown in 1965 and became members of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Cheryl devoted herself to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending her children�s and then grandchildren�s various school activities as well as gardening and tending to her flowers. Roses and cucumbers were a couple of her specialties.
Cheryl loved to travel, with Arizona and Utah being favorite destinations for the warm climate and to visit with family members. Family and friends were a very important aspect to her life and she took great pleasure in spending time with those closest to her.
Cheryl worked at various retail businesses doing secretarial and clerical work. Cheryl had a great passion for taking care of and helping other people. She chose to work in home health care and treated each and every individual she met like they were family. She took care of many people until 2005 when her own health prevented her from helping others. Cheryl fought her cancer courageously but lost the battle on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, having attained the age of sixty-two years, ten months, and two days.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Josephine Goetzinger, her infant twin sons, Dale and Darrin Musich, her sister Linda Warner, her brother Richard Goetzinger, and her father-in-law Laverne Musich.
She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Dennis Musich of Harlan; her children: Darla and husband Dave McDonald of Cherokee, Iowa, Jeff and wife Michelle Musich, and Kim Musich and her special friend Marty, all of Harlan; her brother Ron Goetzinger of Shelby, Iowa, her sister Kathy and her husband Bob Burris of Indianola, Iowa, Mother in Law Helen Musich of Harlan, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and an enormous circle of friends.
A Mass Of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael�s Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Hoefler officiating the service. Honorary Casket Bearers were Natasha Schwarte, Emily Schwarte, Christina Jacobsen, Rayce Jacobsen, Analia Wilke. Serving as casket bearers were Ron Goetzinger, Dave Warner, Jr. Scott Goetzinger, Pete Williadsen, Wayne Schwarte, Colburn Warner, Will Stephany, Adam Musich, Lucas Musich, and Terry Burris. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa.
