Christopher Burton Summers, “Chris”, was born on December 22, 1963 to Gerald and Jane (Christiansen) Summers in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1982 before attending Gateway Electronics in Omaha, Nebraska. Following his education, he worked at Sears in Omaha as a small engine mechanic for seventeen years.
On August 31, 1997, he was united in marriage to Penney Richt in Las Vegas, Nevada. They became parents to one daughter, Jadyn, who was the light of Chris’s world.
Christopher took a job as a mechanic with John Deere in Macedonia, Iowa, in 2006 where he worked for five years before going out on his own as a small engine mechanic. He loved his work and tinkering in his own garage. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars, and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Christopher died on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of fifty-two years, three months, and seventeen days.
He is survived by his wife Penney Summers of Oakland, Iowa; daughter Jadyn Summers of Oakland; parents Gerald and Jane Summers of Overgaard, Arizona; sisters Cynthia Summers of Flagstaff, Arizona and Catherine Summers of Harlan, Iowa; other family members and many friends.
