Clara Barbara (Bruck) Carroll, “Musse”, was born on March 14, 1932 to William and Clara (Windeshausen) Bruck in Harlan, Iowa. She attended Harlan Community Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
On August 22, 1951 she was united in Marriage to Richard Carroll at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa. They became parents to seven children: Steve, Diane, Mary, Rick, Colleen, John and Kathy.
Clara stayed at home until her last child was in school, then she went to work for the Adel school lunch program. After that she did clerical work for Edgerly’s Distribution. In later years, she and Dick would travel the country visiting their children and grandchildren - they enjoyed road trips. They spent their winters in Arizona and Texas.
Clara loved crossword puzzles, playing cards, cooking, family gatherings, grand and great-grandchildren and traveling. She enjoyed Elvis music and Western shows on TV. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion.
Clara died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at her home in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Steve who was serving in the United States Navy, sisters: Rita and Helen; and brothers: Joe, Nick, Neil, Bill, Mark and Mike.
She is survived by her children Diane (Dr. Doug) Sinn of Grapevine, TX; Mary (John) Schroeter of Golden, CO; Rick (Karen) Carroll of Omaha, NE; Colleen Carroll (Kyle Kasik) of Silver Spring, MD; John Carroll of Rifle, CO; Kathy (John) Pritchard of Sioux City, IA; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
