Cody Smallwood

Cody Smallwood was born August 28, 1974, in Glendale, Arizona, the son of Gary and Becky Leeper Smallwood. When he was four years old the family moved to Denison, Iowa, where he was raised, graduating from the Denison High School with the class of 1992. Following high school he continued his education at Iowa Western Community College for two years where he received his degree in auto mechanics. After college Cody moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where he was employed at Rasmussen Ford until December of 2010 when failing health forced him to retire. Following his retirement he returned to Denison so his mother could care for him in her home. When not at work, Cody enjoyed being outside developing his acreage at Storm Lake, planting trees and gardening. He was a Nascar fanatic and enjoyed motorcycles and Camaros. He loved spending time with his friends and adored his nieces and nephew. Cody died Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2011, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 37 years, 3 months and 13 days. Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Gary, in 1989. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his mother Becky Smallwood of Denison, Iowa; one brother Shane Smallwood and wife Katrina of Mapleton, Iowa; two nieces: Claire Smallwood and Maddy Hinkel of Mapleton, Iowa; one nephew Brett Minten of Sioux City, Iowa; uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
