Collette Renee Guyer, daughter of Cliff DeSchamp and Marilyn (Paulsen) Chapman, was born on May 1, 1959 in Harlan, Iowa. She attended and graduated from AvoHa High School in 1977. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca.

Avoca Specialty Care is where Collette spent her days since she was seventeen until her retirement in 2019. She was the glue that held it all together. She was passionate about her work and the residents and coworkers that were like family. She met Roy and was united into marriage on August 27, 1983. To this union one child was born, son Josh.

Collette enjoyed going to Minnesota to vacation with her parents when she was younger where she loved to go water skiing. Her love of the water extended to the Ozarks and the California coast where she recently fell in love with the scenic landscape while visiting her brother-in-law. She loved working in the yard, mowing and growing plants. You could almost always see her outside enjoying the sun and working on her next DIY project. She cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren: Kaleah, Faith and Nolan. She was one to “drop almost anything” she was doing to be there for them and spend quality time with whatever they were doing.

Collette passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Avoca Specialty Care having attained the age of sixty years, four months and twenty-six days. She was preceded in death by her father, Cliff DeSchamp.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of thirty-six years Roy Guyer of Hancock, Iowa; son Josh (Lauren) Guyer of Avoca, Iowa; grandchildren Kaleah, Faith and Nolan Guyer of Avoca, Iowa; mother Marilyn (Larry) Chapman of Avoca, Iowa; brother Cliff DeSchamp, Jr. (special friend Bonnie Lay) of Avoca, Iowa; sister Darla (Todd) Ehlers of Walnut, Iowa; aunts, uncles and cousins; nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
