Corinne Lois Schue was born on August 19, 1925 to Ernest and Irene (Jens) Woltmann in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended school in Avoca and graduated from Avoca High School with the Class of 1942. She then went to Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri.
She took a job with Union Pacific Railroad and worked in the headquarters building in Omaha, Nebraska. On August 5, 1946, Corinne was united in marriage to Albert Schue. They became parents to two sons: Robert and Richard.
The family lived in Michigan and New York before moving to southwestern Indiana in 1957 due to Albert’s job. While in Washington, Indiana, Corinne worked at the Daviess County offices and then at Stone and Webster Engineering Corp, a contractor’s office for new power plant construction. She retired in 1985 and shortly after Albert retired in 1986, they moved back to Avoca. In retirement, Corinne returned to her love of painting and became an accomplished watercolor artist. Several of her paintings won awards at area art shows.
Following Albert’s death in 2004, Corinne remained in their home until August of this year when she became a resident of Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center. It was there that she died on Saturday, December 28, 2013, having attained the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and nine days. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Irene and her husband Albert.
She is survived by her sons Robert Schue of St. Paul, Minnesota and Richard Schue and his wife Margaret of Carmel, Indiana; four grandchildren: Kristin and her husband Sam Schneider of St. Paul, Minnesota, Allison and her husband Adam Harvey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David Schue of Somerville, Massachusetts, and Eric Schue of Columbus, Indiana; brother Raleigh Woltmann and his wife Marilyn of Avoca, Iowa; nieces and nephews in Iowa and Texas; many cousins in the Avoca area; other family members and friends.
The 2:00 PM funeral service was officiated by Jonathan Heifner and Pastor Orris Drake on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa. Serving as casket bearers were David Schue, Eric Schue, Sam Schneider, Adam Harvey, Justin Woltmann, and John Faselt. Interment was held at the Shelby Cemetery.
