She was born on December 28, 1939 to Bo and Helen Sellers. She was the eldest of eight children. Deaf most of her life, Corinne never let her hearing impairment get in her way. She grew up in Harlan, Iowa and graduated from Marycrest College. She met and married her husband Walter Tomihiro in September 1966. They were married for 54 years.
