Curtiss Lee Jacobsen was born on September 8, 1958 to Dennis and Lois (Wendt) Jacobsen in Harlan, Iowa. He started his schooling in Hancock and transferred to Avoca. He graduated from Avoca High School with the Class of 1976.
On February 2, 1984, he was united in marriage to Lisa Smith in Avoca, Iowa. They were the parents of five children: Ryan, Amanda, Jordan, Sarah, and Matthew.
He worked for the Hancock Elevator and delivered fertilizer until he became disabled in 2007.
Curtiss died suddenly on Thursday, December 2, 2010, having attained the age of fifty-two years, two months, and twenty-four days.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years Lisa Jacobsen of Avoca, Iowa; his children: Ryan Jacobsen of Avoca, Amanda Jacobsen of Avoca, Jordan Jacobsen of Avoca, Sarah Bruck of Harlan, Iowa, and Matthew Guyer of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Faith, Lucas, and Chase; his parents Dennis and Lois Jacobsen of Hancock, Iowa; brothers: Dennis Jacobsen and his wife Debra of Hancock, Steven Jacobsen and his wife Renae of Webster City, Iowa, Kevin Jacobsen and his wife Peggy of Avoca, and Daren Jacobsen of Hancock; other family members and many friends.
Pastor Melissa Drake officiated the 1:30 PM graveside service on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Hancock, Iowa.
