Dana Cook

Dana Richard Cook, born on August 31, 1953, in San Joaquin, California, to Norris and Norma (Gabbard) Cook. A dedicated heavy equipment operator, Dana spent many years contributing his skills and hard work to Oakland Foods following his early career at a sugar corporation and refinery after graduating from Tracy High School in 1971.

In 1990, Dana married Lora Chapman in Reno, Nevada. Together they raised four sons: Dana Jr., Michael, Robert and Joseph. Throughout his life, Dana was passionate about the San Francisco 49ers and enjoyed watching wrestling, but it was the time spent with his grandchildren that truly brought him fulfillment.

Dana passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025, in Casey, Iowa, having attained the age of 71 years, 7 months and 1 day. Dana's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma (Gabbard) Cook; father, Norris Cook; and his beloved wife, Lora Chapman, who passed away in 2008; along with 2 grandchildren: Avery Chapman and Madilyn Cook.

He is survived by his sons Dana Cook Jr. and his partner Cassie of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Michael Chapman and his wife Ashley of Walnut, Iowa; Robert Cook and his partner Dominique of Casey, Iowa; and Joe Cook and his wife Morgan of Manning, Iowa. Dana is also cherished by his 17 grandchildren: Christian, Dylan, Caden, Amelia, Celia, Adam, Ashton, Alexis, Adalynn, Lilly, Porter, Menly, Alyssa, Colton, Olivia, Conner and Macie, who brought immense joy to his life; girlfriend, Jan Thompson of Casey, Iowa, and his siblings, Ronald Cook and his wife Alyce, and Vicki Campion and her husband Greg, both residing in California.
